I read a Hindi translation of this Bengali novel by Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay recently. It is a very finely etched story, too fine, in fact, for me. The emotions depicted in the novel are very fine, and I, whose emotions are too gross in comparison, could not relate with any definiteness to the story and the characters.
The novel is set in Bengali society of the early 1900's. The story has four main women characters – two major, Savitri and Kiranmayi, and two minor, Surbala and Sarojini. The former two are the ones on whom the accusation of being charitraheen (of loose character) is made. It is most interesting that all four characters are totally different. Savitri is born a Brahmin, but poverty has forced her to become a servant, doing tasks appropriate only for a 'lower caste'. She is, and remains, pure of character, and devoted to the man she loves – Satish. Surbala is Upendranath's wife. She is young, pure in character, pious to the point of blind faith in religious texts. Sarojini is educated in the Western style, and is forward-thinking, but hampered by familial circumstances and a forceful mother. She does get to marry Satish in the end, though. Finally, Kiranmayi is the most striking character of the novel. Young and extremely beautiful, she is also very intelligent and argumentative. Her emotions and desires have, however, always been repressed by a husband more intent on learning and on teaching her than on conjugal matters, and by a nagging mother-in-law. She surprises and impresses all the three main men in the novel – Satish, Upendra and Diwakar – but her life is ultimately reduced to a shambles by these unthinking men.
The three men play very important roles in the lives of the four women, but most of the time, their actions are detrimental to the women. They are orthodox, unthinking, and not in control of their emotions. Satish brings about Savitri's downfall and acts strangely with Sarojini till the end, when he brings about a final reunion of sorts on Upendra's deathbed. Upendra helps Kiranmayi a lot initially, but thinks the worst of her relationship with Diwakar, and actually causes Kiranmayi's compulsive elopement with Diwakar. Diwakar is weak-kneed and immature. An orphan, he is delighted by Kiranmayi treating him as her brother, and eventually shirks education. He acts totally irresponsibly after his elopement with Kiranmayi.
There is a redemption of all the women in the end, Savitri being considered a devii, Kiranmayi's compulsions understood somewhat and her ill-treatment regretted implicitly, Sarojini getting to marry Satish, and Surbala dying a natural death. But one feels that this redemption has come too late. Wrong done to the women cannot be righted just like that, even if the women themselves feel so.
The depiction of orthodox Hindu society in conflict with Western thoughts brought in by British rule is good. The character sketches are the best part, and their emotions, swinging from one end of the spectrum to the other, make for thoughtful reading.
I did the role of Satish in the Hindi serial that was commissioned by Doordarshan – it was a character that I felt very close to. And you’re right the two female characters are so well etched, and the tale so telling.
Dear Mohit,
U as Satish were really good n whenever I read that novel,I can’t imagine anyone else portraying Satish, bihari,Upendra n kiranmayi.
Do we have an english translation of the novel coz I would really like my husband to read this one:-)

Hello , Smriti Ma’am , Can you connect with us , Few students of AFGJI ?
Thanks
Asking you to connect as we think you were Our teacher in AFGJI in 1987-88 and then you went on to act in the play Charitraheen
HI maam can you share your facebook id or any other link on socialmedia to be in touch .
Hi Smriti ji, I pray to god that you are the same Smriti Aravind ji who played Savitri in this DD serial. If you are, then Please Please Please connect with me or give me a social media link where I can follow you. I crazily searched the internet to find out more about you and your work but was unsuccessful. I could not find even a picture of you on the internet. I am very sad. I have become your die-hard fan. Pleaseeeee connect with me.
Smritiji, kindly connect with us. Would you mind sharing your photo?
It’s strange that people think that ur the same Smriti Anand ji who played the Iconic role of Savitri in Charitraheen serial of Doordarshan, I can’t believe it, because an actor can’t ignore his fans.
In my imagination Smriti ji must be very humble, down to earth and lovable lady. She can’t ignore us…
I remember you have done a great job!…..I also liked savithri ,What was her name ? …Smrithi I think ……Why did we not see more of you ,I could not recollect seeing you after Charithraheen .Your portrayal of Satish was deep and intense so good that we could not imagine any one else doing it .
Hello Maya, I know how it feels for you not to see the person admire on screen again!!
Smriti ji is fine and lives in Bangalore just like a normal housewife, when I stayed with for an year i realised how humble and down to earth person she is and then later when i knew about her earlier popularity I was mind blown thinking how can a celebrity leave all the fame consciously and just live a normal life!!! She’s always my favourite human being!!
Goodness, that thread has been picked up again after more than a decade!
Hi Mohit,
I am very much impressed by the character of Satish in the novel. However, I have not watched the serial yet. I am desperately looking for it. Can you help me?
It feels so great to see the actual person playing the character here.
It is now available in youtube – pl see

Since I had seen only a few of the episodes of this classic, I was not able to remember or recollect its name. Only today I have been able to find it out. The reason for my long search for this classic was mainly the character of Satish played by you. A deep and convincing portrayal leaving an everlasting impression.Thank you so much
hi mohit can u pls share your facebook id
Hello Mohit. Well done, but I haven’t seen you anywhere else apart from charitraheen. Where is Smriti Arvind who played Savitri?
I just read the English translation of “Parineeta” and immediately wanted to read more by Sarat Chandra and other writers of Hindi and Bengali Literature. Your blog is going to make my task easier, thank you!
Though I was quite young at that time (around 13) the serial did leave it’s mark in some way. I think the characterization and the tensions palpable throughout was noteworthy.
Mohit’s role as “Satish babu” (as he discloses) was brilliant. A commendable film in all.
The story the novel tells is compelling. I love the interplay among Saratchandra’s characters. And as I’ve said before, I loved the role of Satish, empathised with the character and lived it for the 40 days that we shot in various locations in Kolkata. Soporific, thank you.
Hi Mohit,
Charitraheen is one of my favorite serials till date ..i loved you and all the characters … savitri, upen babu, kiran …all of them …
but apart from the artist who played upen (whom i have seen in another doordarshan telefilm) i have not seen any of the actors in any other role .. have u done any serials or plays?? would love to see your work again 🙂
Can you please tell me when was this serial aired on DD. The year please. Thanks
Dear Mr. Mohit Shukl,
As two little girls, my sister and I fell in love with your character in ‘Charitraheen’. Although you didn’t appear in many other serials after that, I want to let you know that you were immortalized by that one role. Satish babu and particularly that song ‘aur ek shaam maine tere naam kar di’ will remain etched in our minds forever. Thank you. Can you tell me how can I get access to that song?
Best,
Divya
The song is called sheetal manjul komal ..you will find it on youtube ..enjoy
Dear Mr Shukl,
The show was magical, you even more so. I was thrilled to read your posts. They were as warm as your portraiture of Satish Babu. It is very reassuring to know that I can communicate with a childhood hero. Thankyou for doing the show and thankyou for the music. Wishing, hoping and praying for some more posts from you.

That was not the age to understand Sharat Chandra however good that I dint miss on some good work. Does anyone know English translation of this novel?
Thank you for your post LongLostDD. I have not yet come across an English version of this novel, but am on the lookout and will let you know too. Happy diwali to all of you! regards, Mohit

Is anyone watching the serial? regards, mohit
Hi Mohit,
I was 15 when I had watched it on Doordarshan in 90s. I liked the serial a lot especially your character. You resembled a lot to Mr Bachchan, in movie Anand who played the role of Dr. Banerjee, especially in dhoti clad.
I am watching the serial again now bein aired on DD retro at various times. Some nostalgia
. The characters were effectively written by Sarat Chandra ji. I loved all his novels. The serial was brilliantly shot in the locales of Calcutta especially the hostel scenes.
Dear mohit,
i was abt 13 old when this serial was telecasted in doordarshan…though i couldn’t understand the story fully i couldn’t resist viewing this serial…this is the second time i’m typing a comment to a blog..the first one was also to a blog on this serial.i can’t express in words the nostalgia the song brings to me..hats off to u too..

Dear Mohit Ji,
I have seen the Charitraheen serial on DD as a kid in 1990’s and again 2-3 times. I love your role and roles of others as well.
Its really nice work you did. When I saw your work in 1990’s I expected you to do more serials or maybe movies, but you disappeared from TV altogether. WHat have you been doing lately. I am asking, because I would love to see more of your work.
Thanks.
I will certainly try and get a photo in.
Thank you all so very much, I am truly grateful for your feedback and kind words.
Sudesh, I am currently working, and am otherwise focusing on Hindustani Classical singing. The stage still tugs at my heart strings and I hope to be under the arc lights someday soon.
Nice to be writing on this bolg. Mr. Mohit, I was very young when it was aired. But still it is faintly in my mind. I remember the the female lead in widow’s attire, she came to our school to give introduction to classical dance. I was amazed by her simple beauty. I can’t remember her name…can you tell her real name. I must say being a teenager it was touching my heart and I watched the full serial, but would love to watch it now as I would be able to understand it better.
Thanks!
Her name Simmi, is Smriti Arvind.

Sir, this whole blog is about people who were struk at the core of heart by your performance. there was a time when i wanted to meet ANIL BISWAS, a great music director, who was putting up in New delhi that time.but my badluck, he wnt to heaven before i could complete my graduation and come over to delhi.this life doesnt give enough chances, and if chances are there then people like me dont have the courage.and suppose someone gathers some courage, then it would be very ungentle on your part not to give me your contact details. i request you, humbly thus, to allow me to have a meeting with you.you can plz mail me your details.i again say, this life becomes very short, and i have already wasted it much.i wud be very glad to meet you, and except that ,theres no purpose

indeed realistic.Such good actors are very rare.PLEASE…come on television again.please reply
Sir, along with the two songs:-
1. Sheetal manjul komal – Saikat Mitra and Antara
2. Piya sang lage – Haimanti Shukla,
There was one more instrumental track that salil daa had composed for charitraheen. The title track, which was played on sarod.
Any idea–where; can i find that sir.
thank you very much again.
sameer
oh yes..me too loved the musical title track of the program..it had bansuri as well in between. should definitely get to know where can we find it.
The flute piece is very rural Bengal – touch of baul too – very nice.
there’s a nice solo piece to the song :
“dooba, sooraj dooba, man ley dooba, man ley dooba.
Mere man ka koi kona jag sey ooba, jag sey ooba…
aur ek shaam mainey tere naam likh de…” 🙂
namaste mohitji,
i feel honoured receiving your response. i love that song too. it mysteriously pulls a person and has both feelings:joy of loving and pain of separation. and one more thing, pardon me for this but i had huge crush on you when the serial was being aired on DDnational in early 2000s. those were my college days. i wised to have a man like you in my life. m still waiting haha!!
Dear Mohit ji,
when Charitarheen was first aired I was only 9 yrs old , but I had a faint memory about the serial. Today I got the song “sheetal manjul komal…” from internet and from the morning I have played the music atleast 20 times(still listening). I would love to watch the serial again , I miss those simple & honest serials like “Charitraheen” in todays “daily soap and reality shows”.
Regards
Bipul

I am touched, truly I am.
of all the coincidence this has be really unique . I have just finished rereading Charitraheen and was thinking simultaneously about the serial i had seen during my college days , and then i came across this blog … Everyone is talking about the person who played Satish and the beautiful widow – and rightly so . For many years I have wondered how come those talented actors I have seen in the serial have never reappeared in other serial …. Today I finally get to know the real- life names of the two most memorable characters in the serial ..!! ahem
If anyone of you happen to know about the repeat telecast scheduled for this
do advise

Happy 2012 to you too Sir 🙂
Hi everyone…i have got all the episodes of the serial with me. contact me on adit1234@rediffmail.com
Charitraheen on air on DD Bharti 8pm. Saw it today, never before seen episode. I think I understand it better now. What can I say aging can be a beautiful thing.
How do you mean.
I mean now that I am older I can relate with the characters some more. You know I now know why Savitry attracts and then retracts, why this baffles and frustrates Satish and why he won’t get over her until his confusion is resolved. He will have to move on of course because she can’t for she is a prudish widow but she’ll be forever attractive and elusive and lonesome. The situation is kinder to Satish, he will get past t he rejection, he is a nice intelligent fellow, but she may never be able to express her womanhood again, well at least not in it’s entirety.
This is how I see it now, I might be way off.
Hi Mohit ji,
This is smriti and when d serial was aired, i ws ten years old and I used to be so happy that the name of the character who played Savitri was Smriti:-).You, kiranmayi and upen(I donot know their real names) were fabulous in your portrayals.I must have read it n no. of times. Most of my fundas on love n marriage are greatly influenced by this novel so much so that this was the first gift I gave to my husband.Sadly, he is not very comfortable reading Hindi so now that the show is being rerun on DD Bharti, I am making him watch it and he is also loving it. a big Hi!!!!!!!!!! from my sisters. All three of us just loved your character. My mother is also a big fan and we used to debate a lot as in what kind of husband is better Satish or Upen:-) and have never settled on the answer.Let us hear what do you think?
Lots of love,
Smriti
I loved this serial when I watched it the first time way back while still in school. I looked up DD bharti says “upanyas” for 8pm slot. does that mean It’s “charitraheen”. Can anyone upload the entire serial on youtube. it’ll be a great gift to humanity.

Hi Mohit, I will try to watch the serial. When it was first telecast, I was a child and I loved you, bihari, sarojini, upen babu, etc. so much. Still a big fan of aur ek sham. One very unique thing about the serial was that the actors who played the characters of this serial were exactly like those we imagined after reading the novel. I had already read the novel and when I saw it as serial, I jumped and said, oh the bihari in this serial is just like the one i imagined when I read the book. So were yours and others’ characters. Your acting was so intense and you looked(I am sure you still are)so handsome in the serial. I remember the scene when you were exercising in Sarojini’s home. She sees you exercising and falls in love with you. Oh so much I miss that innocent, sweet and simple time. Regards and take care!

Dear Mohit ji,
I was a very young girl when I saw this beautiful serial….to be honest I used to just watch it just for you… found you so handsome and had a crush on you! The chemistry between you and savitri is fabulous! I have been humming the song ‘Sheetal Manjul Komal’ for years ….today I decided to look it up n was happy to find this blog. I cannot tell you what a pleasure it was to watch you and your co stars act and what an impression it has left on me. Tried to look for a picture of you on the net but couldn’t find any.I don’t have television at home and unfortunately I could never watch the reruns of the serial…wasn’t even aware of it. I really wish we could watch you act again. You are a class apart !

dd bharati is again airing charitrheen since ysday
at 8:30 in the eve.
I was small when I first saw the serial on Doordarshan with my mom. My mother loved the character of Savitri and Kiranmayi. And we both loved the song ” Sheetal manjul komal “. It was she who first introduced me to the Bengali literature. After so many years I listened to this song and I could not stop myself from crying. My mom is no more. I hope she was here, then we together could listened to the song and could revisit those old happy days.
Reeta, i join in your prayers for the peace of your Mum’s soul. Dwell on the happy memories, kind regards, Mohit
I wish all of you a very happy and peaceful Dussehra.
Same to you too Sir!!
Same to u and ur ma who is bengali. plz give me ur email id.thanks
Thank you much. I love Bengal and Kolkata immensely.
Pl.i want to know 2-3 lines description of ur elder brother.kahan hain kaise hain.
and ur id plzzzzzzz.
I used to watch Charitraheen during my childhood days and still remember when my mother used to say ” yeh badon ( elders) ka serial hai, tujhe kya samajh mein aata hai.” Sometimes I feel lucky that we had Doordarshan in our childhood serving with Gems like Charitraheen, Neem ka Ped, buniaad …
Greetings to Mohit sir and other artists of the serial…
Please accept my best wishes for a very happy Diwali.
happy 2015 everyone. stay blessed. best, mohit
Happy New Year to you too Sir

Hello Mohitji,
I am deeply loved your character and kiranmayi character, i believe these two characters are the heart and soul of this novel. After reading novel recently (1month back) still my mind thinking that your character satish is in spiritual love with savitri or it is a true love?
As upendra said to savitri ‘कुल से बाहर आयी हौ तो वापस कुल मैं मत जाना’ | is this the main reason upendra couldn’t agree the marriage between you and savitri.
Please answer these questions.
Please clarify what you think.
Happy new year to all of you.
What love is, is very difficult and very simple, but it is precisely this tension that creates the tumultuous whirl it throws us all into, isn’t it, My view is that in essence, all true love, of any kind is a spiritual experience, the rest of the baggage that is attached to its demonstration, in any more, is the expression that we are limited to.
Hi Mohit ji,
Where are you these days and what do you do? I read you are concentrating on Hindustani classical music. I am also a student of Hindustani classical music.. would love to keep in touch.. Also let us know your whereabouts… and what do you do now? Much love and to let you know I am reading charitraheen and you have been the satish I am able to imagine with every page I flip..
Sir I read this novel but it was incomplete I want to know that what happens after diwakar got failed and kiranmayi gave her all jewellery to doctor anangmoham
Plz tell me story after tHis if any one knows
You can tell me in short I’ll understand
Thanks
Btw the serial is back on air 8 pm today on Bharati
Mr. Mohit
I watched Charitheen for the 1st time wen was 19..ten yrs down the line its still very close to my heart the reminiscences of Satish&Savitri love make my heart racing…few things stays with u forever an Charitheen will always be special to me #nostalgia .Sir ain’t u available on social media ur fans would love to follow u if u don’t hv please make ur accnts on twitter/Snapchat/Instagram
Dear Nishi, I live in Mumbai, and yes, I continue to do some riyaaz. I am a lawyer.
Dear Deepak, Kiranmanyi gave her jewels to the Doctor to be rid of him, fell in love with Upendra, hopelessly, and he rejected her. She ran away with Diwakar in a fit of pique and to get even with those who made her feel inadequate – it didn’t work out very well for her and she lost her mental balance. She was found wandering about and brought back just before Upendra passes away.
Dear Gargi, thank you so very much.
The summer holidays in Mumbai are coming to an end. I hope all those here had a restful break.
I hope everyone in Mumbai is safe.
I wish you all a very happy Diwali.
Beware of scammers who claim they have all the episodes (for a price, of course).
Yes, scams seem to be the order of the day. They seemed to be around when Sarat Babu wrote this novel as well😊
Hi Mohit Ji,
Why I found this connecting link very late. I have watched Charitraheen Serial so many times that now I can remember some scenes but still I watch with same enthusiasm.
Way ahead thinking by Sarat Chandraji and great actors like you.
Regards,
Pooja
Dear Pooja, thank you for writing. It is indeed a great joy when good work is appreciated. Thank you. The power of the author’s thought and the influences that shaped his work is where the power lies. And I deeply connected with the protagonist.
I wish all of you and your loved ones, a very happy and peaceful 2018.
Does anyone know what’s the name/number of the episode that contains the Sheetal Manjul Komal song? I’m unable to find the filmed version anywhere, so I’m willing to pay a premium if anyone has it.
The song features on four episodes.
Ah, I see. I actually have not seen the show as I hadn’t yet been born when it originally aired. I’ve just been scouring the webs trying to find the full series for my old man, but all I’ve come across so far are bits and pieces of it.
It interests me personally as well from what I’ve read and seen about the show and the source material so far, but alas. You seem to be one of the cast members, so if it’s not too much of a bother, might you have a lead on where I’d be able to find what I’m looking for? Appreciated.
I have the song with video in all its filmed versions. You can contact me on cbctindia@gmail.com
Adi, is this a song you like very much?
Yes
It’s strange – when I heard the song the first time before shooting for it, I didn’t quite take to it. But when I sang it for a few people myself, they liked it very much and I have never met anyone who has not. And of course, it became a favourite for me as well.
Hi Mohit ji, I have seen the Charitra been when it was aired first on dd national at prime time somewhere in 1991 or 1992, not sure. I was a teenager but really loved this serial. I loved the song sheetal manjil komal directed by the great Salil da. I even loved the intense and deep background score. I found this serial best among all serials made on a novel. I loved your work most Mohit ji. I wanted to see more of you but don’t know why it didn’t happen. I was able to somehow find the song “sheetal manjil komal” in 2003 only but could not find you. I once saw a you in dd afternoon educational program, but not sure if I am right. Finally, I found you here on this blog. It was really nostalgic to see you here. I also loved work of Upendra babu and Smriti Arvind ji. Sir, can we get whole Charitraheen series from somewhere? I have stopped watching tv serials as now a days they are nowhere near like Charitraheen. It is really very disappointing Mohit ji that we don’t see such beautiful serials these days, I really miss those days.
Thank you Siddharth.
I was spotted on stage (I used to act in Hindi theatre when I was studying :)) and offered the role of Satish. Many of my colleagues in the serial were professional actors from Kolkata television, stage and film circles, and a few of us were not.
I would love to do more and hopefully some day I will.
My best wishes for the festive season to everyone.
Warm regards
Mohit
I understand that the central archives of Doordarshan will have copies.
I can’t explain Mohit ji, how happy I am to see your reply. You were new among the professional actors but trust me your work was most natural among them, although they also acted really well. I want to say sir that these days we see so many tv stars working in so many tv series/programs, but none of them, yes I repeat none of them have done a single piece of work which makes them worth being remembered by audiance for rest of their life. And sir there is someone like you who just worked in one tv serial in 1991 and still being remembered with nostalgia in 2018 and rest of their lives for sure.
Mohit ji, my best wishes are with you, you will definitely get work that you are looking for. In fact, we are seeing far better work on web than television like youtube. Sir if you ever plan to work on web, please do let us all know. We will watch and share with our friends as well.
That is truly very kind of you. Thank you. You know, the creative urge never ever disappears and manifests itself on various ways, so whi knows 🙂
I’d like to wish all of you a very happy festive season and all the very best for a wonderful 2019.
Gopi where are you!?
This is Guneet
This is playing on DD UP at 11 pm.
Finally one month ago, Doordarshan National uploaded all 25 episodes to their official Youtube channel. Now we can watch Charitraheen whenever we want 😁😁😁 Thank you Doordarshan 👍
Watched Charitraheen again, over the past few days. Thanks to DD for making this serial available in youtube. This serial is a work of art. A great novel by Sarat Chandra so well directed and enacted by the cast. Satish, Savitri, Upenda, Bihari, Kiranmayi, and other characters have been enacted so brilliantly. They bring the novel to life. Pure love depicted by Satish and Savitri, is touching. Very well directed by Gajendra Singh, I believe. Salil da’s immortal song. The para ‘dooba dooba suraj dooba’ will bring tears to the eyes of the viewers. They did bring tears to my eyes at least. I would like to create a Wikipedia page for this serial and the cast. Also, we should get to know more about these great actors. Mohit ji, we will need information from you to find out whereabouts of yourself. You have been immortalised by your role in this serial. Also, your co-actors. With lots of thanks. Warm Regards, Abhijit Verma. (averma0875@gmail.com)
Correction – serial was directed by Krishna Raghav ji.
Thank you very much for watching the serial, I am so glad that you liked it. I certainly treasure having played the role, best regards, Mohit
I am watching this serial in U tube…..kabhi socha bhi nahi tha k koi kisi book ko itne acche dhang se filma sakta hai. Maine yeh book 4 timrs pati hai. Jo emotions book me dikhaye hai. I cant imagine it on screen. But yeh sab dekhne ko mila. Very beautifilly picturised this novel.
The power of the story – it has great appeal. I am so pleased that it struck a chord with you as well, kind regards, Mohit

I have also been here 10 years. Haven’t commented since 2011 I think. Been longer since I watched the show. But I recently heard the song several times.
The songs are absolutely wonderful as is the sound track. So glad you like it too, kind regards, Mohit

hello mohit ji,
i am big fan of sharatchandra ji and you as satish .
i saw this serial in 1990 for the first time and after that many times on youtube. you, smriti arvind, satinath ji were simply great.
its really wonderful feeling to finally see you on this platform after so many years of my search.
are you still in acting field?
really want to know lot about you.
pl be safe and take care
best regards
Mohit Ji, aren’t you now heading the L&C at Barclays?
I had watched your serial “Charitraheen” in early 1990s and of late, I have been watching one episode every week end …
Sir, you have brilliantly played the character of “Satish” and it is close to my heart. Overall this serial will remain in my memory forever.. Best wishes to you and stay safe.
Thank you for that. I am truly touched. I am so glad I took the chance to essay this role. As I have had occasion to say – I lived the role, felt the character as an inalienable part of me. I have truly enjoyed theatre – there is magic to be under a light looking out into a dark breathing living well and making a connect. It is equally wonderful that we have this connect and can reach out to each other. Best regards and wishes, Mohit
Thank you Rajshree ji. Theatre remains close to my heart as do the arts. I believe this serial touched so many hearts because the characters are so true to life. I am so glad you have enjoyed watching it. I, in turn, wish you the best in these extraordinary times, and please stay safe. Kind regards, Mohit
thank you mohit ji for your reply,
i was emotionally touched after reading….
i am very happy to know that you are working for children and women welfare also.
i really hope and pray to see you once in my life time.
thanks again..
pl be safe and take care

Apologies, but I cannot read that last comment as I don’t know the language.
I wish you all a beautiful, joyous, and safe, festive season. Happy Diwali.
Respected Mohit Sir,
I became a big fan of Bangla literature and serials based on that after watching “Chartitraheen”. I was a child that time, but, I felt the music was awesome, also, the secnes, environment and older time picturization was great to watch that time as well, when I was not mature to understand things.
But, later, I watched it again on DD and found what a class act by everyone and among them you played and threw life into the character of Satish as it is in the book of Sharat babu. Amazing!!! Your character has different shades and you did a superb act. Really great. After that you did not play any or such role ? If yes, I would like to know, if not, we missed a great actor like you, really. I know you are in different field, different role, but I would like you to create any such serial again with newcomers (new great actors, artists from theatre), please. of course, you should be there. 🙂
Wish you a wonderful year ahead, Stay safe!!!
Regards,
Manish Jain, Rajasthan
Thank you Manish.
I would like to wish everyone a wonderful 2021. May we all walk into the light. Be well and keep safe.
Wishing all of you a very happy and safe Holi.
I hope that all of you and your loved ones are safe in this very extraordinary time. Take good care of yourselves.
Navratri greetings. Stay safe, stay blessed.
Happy Dussehra sir
And to you too. And now, Diwali is not too far away either.
Pinky ji, thank you, bahut dhanyavaad. Mere parivar mein halaanki sabhi ko theatre, music aur dance mein bahut ruchi hai, parantu keval maine theatre mein acting, set designing aur direction kiya hai.

I am 20 years old and just watched charitraheen recently on YouTube for the first time in my life. I tried to find out the cast of this TV show everywhere. Finally I found this conversation. I feel that this is one of the best show ever I watched. You can not believe that I have watched all 25 episodes just in few hours. I’m very much impressed by this TV show. I am in love with this show. Thank you Sir for this wonderful gift you have given to us. I wish that we will watch you all guys in any other show. Thank you

Hi Mohit Ji,
I am a die – hard fan of your character in Charitaheen. You portrayed the role so well and beautifully. I loved your eyes and the charismatic smile. Only recently i got the chance to watch the serial again via youtube and i fell in love with you again. You resembled a lot like my father in his young days and thats also one of the reason that i feel so close with your persona in the serial. After watching the serial again recently, i searched you desperately everywhere on the web. I am so lucky that i finally got a hold of you through this article. I am so glad to see your messages here and how you have kept in touch with your fans. Are you on facebook/ Insta or twitter where i can follow you.? Also, did you work in any other serial after that. I would love to see your work again.
Regards,
Anubhuti
Thank you Anubhuti, I am so grateful. Occasionally I take a look at parts of the serial and I see things afresh, bits I never noticed before, and I am always reminded of how powerful the theme is.
